The title for book one, See the Light, was inspired by a song that came out around that time, See the Lights by Simple Minds:

One of the best ways I discovered to remember details is to listen to the music of the time.  I made this playlist of songs I often listened to between 1981-1984.  Some of them are referenced or quoted in the novel.  Here is a playlist from iTunes with the songs:
